Continuing her ‘Next Generation Jazz’ series at Jazz Cafe POSK, Sylvie Noble brings a band of London’s finest young jazz musicians to play the music of folk legend Joni Mitchell!

Based in London, vocalist and composer Sylvie
Noble pulls from eclectic influences across the musical spectrum,
combining jazz and folk to create an entirely unique sound. She released her
debut album ‘New Eve’, a voice and bass duo collaboration with 2024 BBC Young
Jazz Musician winner Ursula Harrison, in April 2026. A finalist of the 2025
Tina May Young Jazz Musician competition, she combines dynamic and exploratory
improvisation with evocative and soulful melodies, pushing the boundaries of
genre.

Hoda Jahanpour is an Iranian-Slovak cellist
and composer based in London, whose work spans classical, jazz and cross-genre
performance. She has played at EFG London Jazz Festival, Manchester Jazz
Festival, Vortex Jazz Club and Jazz at the Crypt, and has collaborated with
artists including Corinne Bailey Rae, Abel Selaocoe and Nicola Benedetti.
Toby Evans is a jazz guitarist and composer
from Leeds, now based in London. Whilst studying at the Royal Academy of Music,
he has had the opportunity to learn from jazz greats such as Dave Holland, Mike
Walker, Orlando Le Fleming, and Tom Ollendorf. Toby has also worked
professionally across a wide range of projects, including performances with
Boreal Sun and the Parliamentary Jazz Award–winning ensemble Ubunye.
John Haslam is a versatile pianist from North
London, currently in his third year at the Royal Academy of Music. He has
performed alongside notable jazz musicians including Ingrid Jenson and Dave
Holland. He has also performed in venues such as Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club,
Pizza Express Dean Street, Vortex Jazz Club and Toulouse Lautrec.
Toby Yapp is a London-based jazz bassist. A
busy sideman, he performs and tours regularly across the UK and
internationally, always bringing a solid and reliable foundation to the music.
In London, he has appeared at leading venues including Ronnie Scott’s, the Jazz
Café and the Vortex, while recent trips to the Netherlands have taken him to
BIMHUIS and TivoliVredenburg.
Oscar Williams is a drummer based in London,
known for his versatility, fluency, and dynamism. He has worked alongside
acclaimed contemporary jazz artists such as Gareth Lockrane, Rachael Cohen,
Mike Outram, Tom Ollendorff and Tom Cawley, and also frequently performs as a
bandleader with his own projects.
